At our studio, we want to ensure that your tattoo experience is not only enjoyable but also safe and responsible. To help you make an informed decision and maintain the highest standards of professionalism, please review the following requirements and considerations:
Age Restrictions
In compliance with Washington State laws, we strictly tattoo individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We require a valid, government-issued photo ID to verify your age before your appointment. No exceptions can be made, even with parental consent.
Skin Health
To ensure the best results and minimize the risk of complications, your skin should be free from any open wounds, cuts, scrapes, or active skin conditions (such as eczema or psoriasis) in the area you wish to have tattooed. If you have any concerns about your skin’s health, please consult with your dermatologist before booking an appointment.
Blood Thinning Medications & Alcohol Consumption
If you are taking blood thinning medications, such as aspirin or warfarin, please inform your tattoo artist before your session. These medications can increase bleeding and affect the healing process. We also strongly advise against consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before your tattoo appointment, as it can also thin your blood and impair your judgment.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
While there is no conclusive evidence that getting a tattoo poses a risk during pregnancy or breastfeeding, it’s generally recommended to prioritize your health and wait until after this period to get inked.
Your body goes through significant hormonal and physical changes during pregnancy and breastfeeding, which can affect how your skin reacts to the tattooing process, the ink’s absorption, and the overall healing process.
It’s better to avoid any unnecessary procedures or potential complications during this delicate time and focus on nurturing the new life.
When to Reconsider Getting a Tattoo
- If you are feeling unwell, have a fever, or have any signs of infection or illness, it’s best to postpone your tattoo appointment until you have fully recovered. Getting a tattoo when your immune system is compromised can lead to complications and slower healing.
- If you are unsure about your design or placement, taking more time to consider your options is always a wise choice. A tattoo is a lifelong commitment, and we want you to feel confident in your decision.
At Auburn Tattoo, our goal is to create a safe, informed, and respectful environment for all of our clients.
